  • 2012 formed Hawthorn Petal Press, LLC (HPP). My goal for HPP is for it to be a vehicle, an umbrella, under which local writers can publish their work yet retain ownership and control.
  • 1969-1980 Retail sales; Jewel Foods. Chicago, IL, as an apprentice meat cutter.
  • 1985-2001 Luekens Village Foods, Managed Meat Department. Extensive experience dealing with the public. Won many awards for sales and marketing. Spoke on the local radio station 2-3 days per week, promoting Luekens Village Foods.
  • 1996: Toured Minnesota as a featured speaker with the University of Minnesota-Department of Animal Science for Minnesota Cattle Feeders Report. Topic: “Beef Quality and Consistency: A Retailer’s Perspective.”
  • 1997: Featured in Farm and Ranch Livestock Guide ’97.
  • Active in community: Commander of Bemidji VFW Post 1260 from 1991-1993.
  • Served on the board of directors and president of the board for several years for April’s Shelter, a group home for girls.
